The honoring of both filmmakers’ visions came through comprehensive nominations. Coogler’s vision for “Sinners” earned recognition in directing, cinematography, production design, and acting categories. The film’s visual storytelling and ambitious scope impressed Academy voters.
Anderson’s vision for “One Battle After Another” received similar honoring through nominations in directing, adapted screenplay, and ensemble acting. The film’s compelling narrative and powerful performances earned widespread acknowledgment.
Other visions being honored include Josh Safdie’s “Marty Supreme” and Chloe Zhao’s “Hamnet.” The diversity of honored artistic approaches showcases contemporary cinema’s vitality. However, Neeraj Ghaywan’s vision for “Homebound” received no honors.
The 98th Academy Awards ceremony unfolds on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, where honored visions will compete for cinema’s highest recognition.
