It has become the inescapable hit of the year. “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” the film on everyone’s lips, has converted its massive cultural buzz into a hard statistic: it is now the most-watched movie in Netflix history based on total views.
The animated musical has dominated conversations and social media feeds since its June debut, leading to a record-shattering 236 million views. This widespread popularity allowed it to overtake “Red Notice,” a film that, despite its star power, couldn’t match the organic buzz of this new phenomenon.
While it is the film everyone has watched, it isn’t the one people have spent the most cumulative time on. It ranks third for minutes watched with 23 billion, behind the longer films “Red Notice” and “Don’t Look Up.”
The conversation around the film is also centered on its incredible soundtrack, which has produced four top-10 Billboard hits. With a sequel already confirmed, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” is set to remain at the center of the pop culture discussion for a long time.
